So when she was one of the first two people to purchase medical marijuana at Salveo Health and Wellness in Canton on Monday, she was a little overwhelmed. Ive stepped into a whole new world, she said. Its definitely not like walking into a head shop. The people are amazing. After nearly two years of work and a few months of uncertainty as to when they would be allowed to open, Salveo became one of up to eight medical marijuana dispensaries across Illinois to begin distribution to those with any of 38 state-approved chronic diseases who possess a registration card. The dispensary learned at 7 p.m. Sunday that it would be receiving the marijuana from Natures Grace and Wellness cultivation facility in Vermont and that doors could open Monday, said Salveo CEO Scott Miller.
